I Took A Leap- Jill Krause Photography

Remember when our government shut down? Good times.

My husband works for the federal government, and he was sent home. For the first week of the shutdown, we didn’t know if he’d get paid for that time off, and we didn’t know when we could expect his next paycheck. It was a bit scary.

We are very fortunate that we were in a position that we could still pay the bills and buy groceries throughout the uncertainty, but I definitely felt the pressure to ramp up my income in case it extended beyond a point where we could live off of what we had in savings.

I’ve been toying with the idea of launching an official photography business for a while. Mainly, I just want to make everything official and legal for the few sessions I do for friends and family. But I’d also like to start expanding a bit. I truly love the act of photographing other families. I want to do more of that.

So while Scott was home, we swapped roles. I poured myself into setting up Jill Krause Photography, as he managed the kids full time. And then I took a leap.

Jill Krause Photography is officially up and running! I have one round of holiday mini-sessions planned for November 9th. If you’re local to the north Dallas area and looking for some pics for your holiday cards, I still have a few spots open.

HolidayMiniMarketingYou may recognize that lovely, purple-haired lady. She’s a blogging friend. Jenny from Conscientious Confusion. You can see more of their session here.

I have grand dreams for where I want this to go, and a lot of work to do to get there. For now, I’m starting slow, dipping a toe into the water. I won’t be able to offer many full sessions, but plan to carve out time for at least 2 a month at this point. I have no plans to shoot weddings, and my newborn photography will be more lifestyle (or “real life” to be more specific) and less posed with props.

If you’re interested in following me as I grow this little branch of my creative tree, you can follow my blog posts over at JillKrausePhotography.com, and like my photography page over on Facebook.

And no, I’m not giving up blogging over here! I have grand plans for this place, too.
